SwedCham APAC: Is China becoming the first electrostate?

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and SEB are holding a hybrid seminar on China’s electrification and what it means for businesses in Asia. It is an updated version of a session the chamber ran earlier this year.

China’s electricity demand has grown more than sixfold since 2000. Over the same period, the country has become the main producer and user of electric vehicles, batteries, solar power, grid technology and hydrogen. Some analysts now describe it as an “electrostate,” where cheap and plentiful electricity underpins industrial competitiveness.

The seminar will look at what has changed since the spring, how fast the shift is moving, and what it means for supply chains, investment and competition for Nordic and European companies in the region.
