SwedCham Indonesia invites members and partners to join a webinar organized by SwedCham Singapore on the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which will apply from 12 August 2026.
This is one of the most significant sustainability and compliance reforms affecting exporters to the EU market.
The regulation will apply from 12 August 2026 and introduces new requirements on packaging sustainability, recyclability, reusability, packaging minimization, and the use of recycled materials. Companies exporting to Europe will increasingly need to demonstrate compliance throughout their packaging and supply chain operations.
In this webinar, Geoffroy You, Vice President Sales & Marketing APAC at Nefab, will provide an overview of:
• The PPWR framework and implementation timeline
• Key implications for exporters in Asia
• Risks related to non-compliance and market access
• Practical strategies for sustainable and compliant packaging
• How packaging optimization can support both sustainability goals and operational efficiency
Why is this relevant for Indonesia?
Indonesia is deeply integrated into global manufacturing and export supply chains, including sectors such as electronics, automotive, industrial products, furniture, consumer goods, food, and retail. European customers and importers are expected to increasingly require suppliers to comply with PPWR standards as part of procurement and sourcing processes.
The regulation is therefore not only a European environmental initiative — it is also becoming a commercial and competitive issue for Indonesian exporters seeking continued access to the EU market.
The webinar will also explore how companies can use packaging strategy as a tool to strengthen sustainability performance, reduce waste, optimize logistics, and improve long-term competitiveness.
